OSHA'S regulation for SILICA went into full effect in 2018
This affects YOU if you work with CONCRETE, CONCRETE BLOCKS, DRYWALL, SANDBLASTING, TUCK POINTING, GLASS, JACK-HAMMERING, ROCK CRUSHING, OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT. Per OSHA's Small Entity Compliance Guide: Each employer that exposes employees to respirable crystalline silica must have a written exposure control plan and a properly trained Competent Person to implement the plan. One Competent Person is required for employers with less than 20 employees, 5 for 20 to 499 employees, and 10 for 500+ employees. Full compliance was required by 2018, to write a Silica Compliance Program and a Respiratory Protection Plan. Employees must be trained on what Silica is, what products contain it, what are the health effects of exposure, options available to protect the employee, and respiratory protection. You can spend weeks studying the rule and attempt to write your own program, or, attend our class and learn it in one day. We have read through the over 400 pages of OSHA's "Final Rule" and have consulted with OSHA over the past 3 years to offer YOU the following classes in order to help you comply. Companies are required to give worker training to all employees exposed to Respirable Chrystalline Silica dust above the Action Level. Plus, each worksite must have a competent person.
Our worker training meets all of the OSHA training requirements, and provides workers with a copy of the rule (as required by OSHA). Those training taking Competent Person training, take the worker training in the morning, followed by additional training about air monitoring, respirator training, and training on the required written programs required by OSHA.
All attendees receive a picture ID card showing proof of training. Those taking Competent Person training also receive an electronic copy of a written program for both Silica and Respiratory Protection.
